Information
ASR Systems provides the TITAN CSR® retractor, a lightweight titanium self-retaining surgical retractor that combines the speed of the Balfour with greater surface area exposure than the Bookwalter, without the need to attach to the surgical table. It uniquely provides the benefits of multiple retractors in one novel TITAN CSR® device, deploying fully assembled in seconds rather than minutes, in the OR, ICU, Hybrid OR, or trauma bay. Four abdominal wall blades connect to two interacting ring segments, expanding the incision like a Balfour while creating a supporting frame over the exposed tissue. Every Bookwalter accessory that mounts to the ring fits the TITAN CSR® retractor, so surgeons can attach overlying blades for hands-free exposure of deep and retroperitoneal structures, all without a table connection.
For trauma and emergency general surgeons, a peer-reviewed case series at an urban academic Level I trauma center documented the TITAN CSR® retractor in 89 adult and pediatric cases over one year. It provided hands-free exposure during trauma and emergency laparotomies, including traumatic hysterectomy, gastrorrhaphy, enterorrhaphies, and colectomy, and every laparotomy was completed without a post or a table connection. Its rapid deployment also eases minimally invasive to open conversions, where setup minutes matter, and it has been used in ICU laparotomies, Hybrid OR cases, and rib fixation.
For vascular and access surgeons, the same series confirmed effective retroperitoneal exposure, reaching the inferior vena cava, left femoral vessels, and duodenum through Bookwalter-compatible blades attached to the frame. The device exposes intra-abdominal and retroperitoneal structures in a hands-free manner while keeping the surgical table clear of a table-mounted post.
For spine access surgeons, the Post-Free™ TITAN CSR® retractor system supports Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion exposures. Its radiolucent titanium and aluminum construction and self-retaining blades deliver workspace without larger incisions, and access surgeons report strong exposure in challenging cases, including obese patients, all without an OR table connection/table-mounted post.
ASR Systems also offers the cordless TITAN CSR® Lighted Retractor Blade, a medium Richardson/Kelly blade that snaps onto the frame and illuminates hard-to-reach areas with a small, disposable battery, enhancing visibility in low-light settings such as the ICU and under the rib cage.
Weighing roughly two pounds and arriving in one tray, the TITAN CSR® retractor is fast to count, fast to deploy, and reusable, giving surgeons the exposure of a table-mounted system with the speed of a hand-held one.
Rapid Retraction. Superior Exposure. No Table Attachment... and now enhancing visibility in the surgical field.
