The percentage of surgeons engaging in locum tenens work is on the rise, across all surgical specialties. This session will review locum tenens and its role in addressing workforce maldistribution in surgery, with experiences from surgeons who participate in locum tenens work, and best practices for these situations. Speakers will also discuss the experiences of surgeon leaders who have created alternative practice models to reduce the need for locum tenens in their hospitals.
